in you love has grown this whole life long -- a poem

Deep is that river, and it silent flows,
full is that flower, and passionate its song,
which, when sung over time, lasts all life long,
though it never fully captures what each lover knows.

That joy is never lived wholly alone.
That love is grace and pain, admixed in sacramental ways.
Even as bread and wine become some much more than their parts.
In you, my dear, I have become known,
and in you love has grown this whole life long.
